Editorial Standards

1. Editorial Mission

APE Analytics exists to produce rigorous, data-driven writing about sports for readers who value quantitative research and honest analysis, strictly for informational and entertainment purposes. Our mission is editorial: we want to be the best-written and most methodologically transparent sports-analytics publication for the leagues and topics we cover.

We are inspired by the tradition of independent baseball-analytics publications such as FanGraphs, Baseball Prospectus, and the early sabermetric literature. Our work belongs to that lineage: research and commentary written for informed sports fans, not tip sheets sold to bettors.

2. How We Classify Ourselves

APE, LLC is:

• A Tennessee limited liability company
• An independent digital publisher classified under NAICS 519130 — Internet Publishing and Broadcasting and Web Search Portals
• A provider of an interactive computer service under 47 U.S.C. § 230
• An editorially independent business unaffiliated with any sportsbook, sports league, team, casino, or gambling operator

APE, LLC is not:

• A sports book, sportsbook affiliate, exchange, prediction market, sweepstakes operator, DFS operator, or wagering platform
• A licensed handicapper, tout, tipster, or seller of "picks"
• A licensed investment advisor, broker-dealer, futures commission merchant, or fiduciary

3. What We Publish

Our content is composed of:

• Statistical research — original quantitative studies of player, team, and league performance
• Model outputs — probability estimates, projections, and simulations for on-field outcomes (win probability, run distributions, spread distributions, and similar), always presented with an explanation of methodology and known limits
• Editorial commentary — written analysis of games, seasons, trades, roster construction, coaching decisions, and other sports topics
• Historical and archival writing — long-form and short-form pieces situating current events in the sport's history
• Data visualizations — charts and graphics illustrating statistical arguments

4. What We Do Not Publish

The following categories of content are outside APE's editorial scope, and staff who write for APE are instructed not to produce them under APE bylines:

• Explicit bet recommendations, "plays," "locks," "units on," or similar direct instructions to place a wager
• Tout-style "record" or "ROI" claims marketing APE against gambling outcomes
• Guarantees of any on-field or wagering outcome
• Any content that has been paid for or influenced by a sportsbook or gambling operator
• Personalized advice for a specific reader's bankroll, risk tolerance, or wagering strategy

5. No-Picks Policy

APE does not sell picks. Our subscribers pay for editorial content: research, commentary, model outputs, and access to a private editorial delivery channel. They do not pay for a list of wagers to place.

When APE Content references betting-market data (point spreads, totals, moneylines, futures, or player props), those references are used as statistical inputs or as editorial context, in the same way that mainstream sports-analytics publications discuss market prices. They are not recommendations to place any specific wager.

APE staff will not, in APE editorial content or in APE-branded editorial channels:

• Tell readers to place a specific wager
• Instruct readers on stake sizing, bankroll allocation, or unit sizing
• Offer or accept payment to promote a wager
• Represent any single number as a "lock" or a guarantee

6. No Sportsbook Affiliations

APE does not:

• Accept sponsorship, advertising, or affiliate revenue from sportsbooks, exchanges, sweepstakes operators, DFS platforms, or other gambling businesses
• Earn revenue that is contingent on user wagering activity of any kind
• Enter into referral or commission agreements tied to gambling sign-ups or deposits

Our only current revenue source is a weekly subscription fee for editorial access, processed by Stripe, Inc.

7. Corrections and Errata

When APE Content contains a factual error, we correct it as promptly as reasonably possible. Corrections are noted at the top or bottom of the affected piece with a brief note describing what changed. Model revisions are noted in the piece where the model output appears.

To report a suspected error, email [email protected] with a link to the piece and a description of the issue.

8. Uncertainty and Model Limits

Every APE model is a simplified representation of the underlying sport and is subject to noise, sampling error, structural bias, and unmodeled events. When we publish model outputs, we aim to:

• State the model's purpose and inputs at a level readers can evaluate
• Present probabilities and uncertainty ranges rather than point predictions where possible
• Avoid language that implies certainty ("will," "guaranteed," "lock")
• Update or retract projections when new information materially changes the picture

Readers should treat all model outputs as one input among many, not as a substitute for their own judgment.

9. Discord Editorial Delivery Channel

APE Analytics delivers editorial content to paid subscribers through a read-only Discord channel. The channel is operated as an editorial delivery mechanism, not as a discussion community. Only APE editorial staff post to the channel; subscribers do not post, reply, react, or send member-to-member messages.

What APE staff post to the Discord channel:

• Editorial research. Full research pieces published to bankonape.com are announced or summarized in Discord with a link to the source article.
• Weekly previews and methodology notes. Short editorial notes about what APE is covering and how our models are produced.
• Corrections. Corrections issued under Section 7 (Corrections and Errata) of these Standards are announced in the Discord channel with a link to the corrected article on bankonape.com.
• Administrative notes. Occasional operational messages about cadence, maintenance, or subscription matters.

What APE staff do not post to the Discord channel:

• Picks, plays, locks, or wagering recommendations. Consistent with Section 4, APE does not tell any reader what, whether, or how much to wager.
• Bet-slip screenshots. APE does not post images of winning or losing wagers, whether attributed to APE staff or to any subscriber, on Discord or anywhere else.
• Sportsbook, DFS, sweepstakes, or gambling-operator promotions. Consistent with Section 4, APE has no affiliate or promotional relationships with gambling operators.
• Member communications. APE staff do not use the Discord channel to conduct customer support or private correspondence. Subscriber communication is handled by email (see Contact).

Because members do not post, the Discord channel does not host user-generated content. APE's practices for interacting with subscriber content on external social-media platforms are governed by APE's internal User-Generated Content & Ambassador Policy, available on request from [email protected].

APE reserves the right to edit, remove, or otherwise moderate content it has itself posted to the Discord channel, including for corrections, clarifications, or compliance reasons. Such moderation is consistent with APE's rights under 47 U.S.C. § 230(c)(2) and with APE's editorial discretion as a digital publisher.

10. Editorial Complaints

If you believe APE Content has crossed the lines described above — particularly if you believe an APE staff post reads as a specific wagering recommendation, a guarantee, or an undisclosed sponsorship — please tell us. Send the piece, quote, or screenshot to [email protected]. Editorial complaints are reviewed by a member of APE, LLC and we will respond within seven (7) business days.
